Distort the Body

How wide should one run so that prosthetic male calves don't rub against each other? What happens if you start messing with the standards? If you put things in a different perspective? If you exhibit yourself as a person? We see her searching, wondering if she feels comfortable in this borrowed body. Is she an animal? Does she come from Mars? Maybe she’s a superhero or just a plain human?
In Distort the Body, gender norms are questioned through costumes designed by the Swedish Linnea Mattei. These costumes are an absurd magnification of typically feminine and masculine characteristics. Expanding these outward features reveals societal expectations and their limitations. Jansens and Geens explore the physical limitations of this borrowed body.
How does a tight pencil skirt or a disproportionate bosom influence a handstand or walkover? How does it influence the daily activities of a woman?
